Rationality Requires Dialogue

At Kaav, we believe that rationality cannot exist without dialogue. No individual can be fully certain that they have accessed enough evidence, examined all relevant perspectives, or reasoned without the influence of emotions, assumptions, and values.

The Limits of Thinking Alone

Human beings also tend to seek the company of those who think like them. This can reduce opportunities for self-correction and create intellectual bubbles. Dialogue helps challenge these limits by exposing us to other perspectives and inviting us to reconsider our assumptions.

Dialogue as a Practice

Meaningful dialogue is not easy. It requires practice, patience, and the right environment. For dialogue to contribute to rationality, people need to feel able to listen, speak, disagree, and reconsider without fear or hostility.

Kaav’s Relationship with Society

To share the results of its research, Kaav seeks to build a direct and meaningful relationship with society. Kaav is an organization shaped by people, present among people, and working for people.

Research in a Welcoming Space

We present our research findings in warm, respectful, and welcoming spaces where people can meet, converse, exchange views, and become familiar with one another.

More Than Presentation and Feedback

These spaces are not created only to present research findings or collect feedback. They are part of Kaav’s mission. We want to create safe and thoughtful environments that friends of Kaav feel drawn to, even if only for a few minutes of conversation.

Safety, Respect, and Reconsideration

Rationality needs dialogue, and dialogue can only flourish where people feel secure, respected, and calm enough to listen, speak, disagree, and reconsider.
